Lagos: A Must-Try African Brunch in Times Square

If you’ve never experienced African brunch, Lagos in Times Square is the perfect place to start. This vibrant spot combines authentic African flavors with a lively atmosphere, offering one of the best brunches in the city.

How much is it?

Lagos offers a “Liquid Brunch” for $35, giving you 90 minutes of unlimited mimosas. They also have champagne towers, with prices ranging from $80 for 5 glasses to $120 for 12 glasses of a lemon drop tower in classic, mango, or strawberry flavors. Brunch entrees range from $14 for a fresh fruit bowl to $32 for steak & eggs.

What is the food like?

Lagos takes brunch to a whole new level with their unique dishes. Here’s a breakdown of what I tried:

  • Nigerian Breakfast ($18): A plantain base with a savory red stew aioli. This dish was rich in flavor and a perfect introduction to the Nigerian-inspired menu.

  • Banana Rum Flambé French Toast ($17): A game-changer! The combination of banana and rum created a sweet, indulgent twist on traditional French toast.

  • Jollof Rice with Beef ($31): Hands down one of my top 3 bites of the year. The flavors in the Jollof rice were bold, and the beef added a perfect touch of savory goodness.

What are the drink options?

Lagos offers a “Liquid Brunch” add-on with bottomless mimosas in peach, strawberry, orange, and pineapple flavors, making it a fun challenge to try them all. They also have a variety of specialty cocktails served in creative ways—think drinks served in pineapples or even set on fire. These drinks aren’t just tasty; they’re perfect for the gram.

What is the ambiance like?

The space feels larger-than-life, spanning three stories in the heart of Times Square. The first floor is more casual with a bar and tables, while the second and third floors bring the party with a DJ and a more vibrant atmosphere. The decor is stunning, with African-inspired art that’s perfect for photo ops.

Why you need to go:

Lagos offers a unique brunch experience with bold, flavorful dishes you won’t find anywhere else. The African twist on brunch classics makes it stand out, and the fun, high-energy vibes will keep you coming back for more. While the bottomless mimosas are on the pricier side, it’s worth it for the overall experience. Or, you can opt for a la carte cocktails for a more relaxed vibe.
